Ribbon Cutting for “So We May Live Into Yours” Mural Inside the Monroe Regional Airport Terminal

Friday, September 7, 2018 - 2:00pm

WHAT: Mayor Jamie Mayo and the Monroe City Council are pleased to join Monroe Regional
Airport Director Ron Phillips & Staff to announce and invite the media and public to a ribbon
cutting ceremony to officially commemorate the new mural inside the Monroe Regional
Airport Terminal. The event will be held 2:00 pm Friday, September 7, 2018, in the Airport
terminal, located at 5400 Operations Road in Monroe, LA.

A WORD FROM THE ARTISTS: Created by Emj Cruz (b. 1988) & Ali Hijazi (b. 1982) - So We
May Live Into Yours is an adhesive vinyl installation spanning the perimeter of the south
terminal. With a visually minimal, yet almost realistic approach, this panoramic piece is meant
to illustrate a continuing trust in communication and the investment in technological progress.
An abstract Monroe skyline is integrated into the cycle and includes a nod to the history and
future of our home. We hope the community and travelers enjoy this installation, and that this
piece starts a conversation about Monroe's participation in the advancement of our species.

We would like to thank the Monroe – West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau for their
grant funding to support this project.
