Notice of Hearing/Ordinance – Ordinance declaring certain immoveable property in Monroe

NOTICE

NOTICE is hereby given that a public hearing will be held on the following Ordinance, Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 6:00 p.m., in the Council Chamber at Monroe City Hall:

ORDINANCE

STATE OF LOUISIANA

CITY OF MONROE

The following Ordinance was introduced:

AN ORDINANCE DECLARING CERTAIN IMMOVABLE PROPERTY IN MONROE LOCATED ON WASHINGTON ST. BETWEEN NORTH 11TH ST. AND PENDLETON STREET AS NO LONGER BEING NEEDED FOR PUBLIC USE AND AUTHORIZING THE SAME TO BE SOLD TO MICHAEL ECHOLS ENTERPRISES, LLC PURSUANT TO LOUISIANA REVISED STATUTE 33:4712, AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO

WHEREAS,MICHAEL ECHOLS ENTERPRISES, LLC would like to purchase a certain piece of immovable property located along Washington Street between N. 11th St. and Pendleton St. and more fully described in the attached plat and copy of the proposed Cash Deed document;

WHEREAS, the proposed purchase price for the said property is $35,300.00.  This price consists of the fair market value of $35,000.00 plus the cost of the appraisal, $300.00, by Appraisal Consultants, LLC, dated 12/17/21, a copy of the Summary of Just Compensation is attached hereto; and

WHEREAS, the City of Monroe deems said proposal to be in the best interest of the City of Monroe.

THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the City Council does hereby declare that certain parcel of immovable property located along Washington St. between N. 11th Street and Pendleton Street and more particularly described in the proposed sale document, a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof, as being no longer needed for public use.

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Friday Ellis, Mayor, be and is hereby authorized and empowered, on behalf of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, to sell, for cash, to Michael Echols Enterprises, LLC the above-mentioned immovable property under the terms, conditions and for the consideration set forth in the said sale documents attached hereto.

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Friday Ellis, Mayor, be and he is hereby authorized and empowered to execute the said sale documents for and on behalf of the City of Monroe, Louisiana.

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that under the provisions of Louisiana Revised Statute 33:4712 that prior to the final adoption hereof, notice of this Ordinance shall be published in the official journal three (3) times within fifteen (15) days, one week apart and that any opposition hereto must be made in writing, filed with the Clerk of the Council within fifteen (15) days of the first publication.
