EMERGENCY ORDINANCE

 

STATE OF LOUISIANA

 

CITY OF MONROE                                                                        NO. 12,101                

 

            The following Ordinance was introduced by Mrs.  Dawson                     who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mrs.  Ezernack                  :

 

AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE CONDITION OF TWO (2) ELECTRIC MOTORS AT THE TEXAS AVENUE PUMP STATION AN EMERGENCY NECESSITATING IMMEDIATE REPAIR AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.

 

            WHEREAS, two (2) electric motors at the Texas Avenue (high service) Pump Station are in need of emergency repair work;

 

            WHEREAS, the Texas Avenue Pump Station provides service to most of north Monroe, from the Ouachita River to Oliver Road;

 

            WHEREAS, this is a critical emergency because a minimum of three (3) pumps and sometimes four (4) pumps must be operational to prevent sewer backups in the north Monroe area; and

 

            WHEREAS, funds are available through the Sewer Division’s Repair and Maintenance account.

 

            NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the condition of the two (2) electric motors at the Texas Avenue Pump Station is hereby declared an emergency.

 

            BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that such emergency repairs as are necessary to repair the two (2) motors at the Texas Avenue Pump Station are hereby authorized and approved and Stacey Rowell, the Director of Administration, is authorized to enter into such contracts or task orders as may be necessary to complete the project.

 

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

 

            AYES:            Harvey, Ezernack, Woods, Marshall & Dawson

 

            NAYS:            None.

 

            ABSENT:      None.

 

            And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the ___day of January 2022.
