CITY OF MONROE NO. 11,967
The following Ordinance was introduced by Mr. Echols who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mr. Wilson :
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING JAMES E. MAYO, MAYOR, TO EXECUTE A LEASE TERMINATION AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MONROE AND THE MONROE COMMITTEE OF THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF COLONIAL DAMES IN THE STATE OF LOUISIANA AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO:_______________ ____________________________________
WHEREAS, the City of Monroe entered into a Lease Agreement with the Monroe Committee of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Louisiana (“Colonial Dames”) in 1981 to lease the property known as the Isaiah Garrett Law Office Museum House located at 520 South Grand Street in Monroe, Louisiana;
WHEREAS, in 2005, the Colonial Dames exercised its option to extend the Lease Agreement through January 31, 2031;
WHEREAS, the Colonial Dames desire to terminate the Lease Agreement, per the attached agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that James E. Mayo, Mayor, be and is hereby authorized and empowered, on behalf of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, to execute the attached Lease Termination Agreement with the Colonial Dames and further authorizing James E. Mayo to sign any documents necessary to accomplish the purposes of the termination of the lease.

This Ordinance having been submitted in writing, introduced and published, was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the 26th day of November , 2019.
