Sanitation Crews Clean Up More Than 300 Tons of Litter

(Monroe, LA) In October of 2020, Mayor Friday Ellis tasked the City of Monroe’s Sanitation Department with litter abatement. Since then, crew members have picked up 20,261 bags of litter; that equates to 333 tons of litter and debris!
“These crews are making a major difference in what our city looks like! There’s still more to do, but we need your help. I want to take this opportunity to challenge residents to try and do the same. If you see litter laying around, take the time to pick it up. We all live in and love our city and together, I believe we can all help keep it clean,” says Mayor Ellis.
Litter abatement efforts will continue in the City of Monroe. If you see bright orange garbage bags around the city, that’s evidence of our Sanitation Department hard at work.
