EMERGENCY ORDINANCE

The following Ordinance was introduced by Mr. Harvey who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mrs. Dawson :
AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE REPAIR OF PUMP #2 AT THE ROCHELLE STORMWATER STATION AN EMERGENCY AND NECESSITATING IMMEDIATE REPAIR AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.
WHEREAS, the #1 pump at the Rochelle storm water station has been out due to a gearhead failure. The gearhead has previously been declared an emergency and is currently at the manufacturer's, Philadelphia Gear’s, repair facility with a February 7, 2022 delivery date. While waiting on the repair of the gearhead, the pump assembly failed on the #2 pump. In order to assure operation of at least two pumps at the station, the #2 gearhead was moved to pump #1 restoring pump #1 to full operation;
WHEREAS, the gearhead and the pump both need to be operational to put pump #2 back online;
WHEREAS, the Rochelle Stormwater Station needs all 3 pumps working to prevent flooding during a large or extended rain events. The Rochelle Stormwater station provides flood protection to a large percentage of the Garden District and from N. 18th Street to the railroad tracks; and
WHEREAS, funds for this repair will come from the Storm Water Pump Station Repairs and Maintenance Account.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the failure of Pump #2 from the Rochelle Stormwater Station, be and is hereby declared an emergency and in need of repair.
This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:
AYES: Harvey, Ezernack, Woods, Marshall & Dawson
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: None.
And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the 14th day of December 2021.
