EMERGENCY ORDINANCE

 

STATE OF LOUISIANA

 

CITY OF MONROE                                                                        NO.  12,079               

 

            The following Ordinance was introduced by Mrs.  Ezernack                   who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mrs.  Dawson                    :

 

AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE REPAIR OF THE GEARHEAD ON PUMP #1 AT THE ROCHELLE STORMWATER STATION AN EMERGENCY AND NECESSITATING IMMEDIATE REPAIR AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.

 

            WHEREAS, there are three pumps at the Rochelle Stormwater Station, two of which are working.  Pump #1 is out of service due to the failure of its gearhead and is in need of repair.  All three pumps are needed during heavy rain events to prevent flooding; and

 

            WHEREAS, the Rochelle Stormwater Station covers the east side of the Garden District as well as the area between the Railroad tracks to 18th Street; and

 

            WHEREAS, the estimated cost is $97,000.00 and

 

            WHEREAS, funds for this repair will come from the Pump Station Repairs and Maintenance Account.

 

            NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the failure of Pump #1 from the Rochelle Stormwater Station, be and is hereby declared an emergency and in need of repair.

 

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

 

            AYES:            Ezernack, Woods, Marshall & Dawson

 

            NAYS:            None.

 

            ABSENT:      Harvey

 

            And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  14th      day of September 2021.
