CITY OF MONROE
The following Ordinance was introduced by Mrs. Ezernack who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mr. Harvey :
AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE SEWER SYSTEM REPAIRS DISCOVERED BY SMOKE TESTING BE AN EMERGENCY NECESSITATING THE IMMEDIATE REPAIRS AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO________________________________________________________________________________
WHEREAS, the City of Monroe has the North Area Sewer System Improvement Project to assist in proving inflow and infiltration testing of the sanitary sewer system and making the necessary repairs; and
WHEREAS, the smoke testing has found additional sources of inflow & infiltration on public property; and
WHEREAS, these sources have contributed directly to the Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSO), which are occurring on Timberlane and Hanging Moss and elsewhere in the system.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana in legal session convened, that the identified sources of inflow & infiltration on public property an emergency posing a danger to the public necessitating immediate repairs and is hereby declared an emergency.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that such emergency repairs necessary to repair the findings are authorized and James E. Mayo, Mayor of the City of Monroe, is authorized to enter into such contracts as may be necessary to complete the project.
This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole and the vote thereon being as follows:
AYES: Ezernack, Harvey, Woods & Wilson
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Clark
And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the 25th day of February 2020.
