EMERGENCY ORDINANCE

STATE OF LOUISIANA

CITY OF MONROE                                                                        NO.  11,903               

            The following Ordinance was introduced by Ms.  Woods                who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mr.  Wilson                        :

AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE CONDITION OF THE PUMP AT THE FORREST STORM WATER STATION AN EMERGENCY NECESSITATING IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO.

            WHEREAS, the pump at the Forrest Storm Water Station failed and immediate replacement is necessary; and

            WHEREAS, ordering a replacement pump is an emergency as the Ouachita River is rising due the rains we have been having.  A high river stage could cause flooding in the area of Forrest from South Grand over to Lee Avenue; and

            WHEREAS, funds are available through the Storm Water Repairs and Maintenance account.

            NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana, in legal session convened, that the failure of the pump at the Forrest Storm Water Station is hereby declared an emergency.

            BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that such an emergency replacement of the pump is necessary to the Forrest Storm Water Station and are hereby authorized and approved and the Mayor of the City of Monroe is authorized to enter into such contracts as may be necessary to complete the project.

            This Ordinance having been submitted in writing and was then submitted to a vote as a whole, the vote thereon being as follows:

            AYES:            Echols, Ezernack, Woods & Wilson

            NAYS:           None.

            ABSENT:      Clark

            And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  26th     day of December 2018
