ORDINANCE

CITY OF MONROE

The following Ordinance was introduced by Mr.  Harvey who moved for its adoption and was seconded by Mrs.  Ezernack:

AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF MONROE TO ACQUIRE A CERTAIN PARCEL OF REAL PROPERTY FROM THE OUACHITA PARISH POLICE JURY, SAID PROPERTY SITUATED IN OUACHITA PARISH, MONROE, LA., BEING LOT 1 OF THE RESUBDIVISION OF LOTS 1, 2 & 7 OF THE SUBDIVISION OF TRACT 3 OF THE CONNER REALTY CORP., AND FURTHER PROVIDING WITH RESPECT THERETO    

WHEREAS, the City of Monroe would like to acquire Lot 1 of the Resubdivision of Lots 1, 2 & 7 of the Subdivision of Tract 3 of the Conner Realty Corp. Property currently owned by the Ouachita Parish Police Jury for the new transit terminal;

WHEREAS, Appraisal Consultants, LLC prepared an appraisal dated May 2, 2023, with the appraised value at $185,000.00. A copy of the appraisal summary is attached hereto as Exhibit “A”;

WHEREAS, the City of Monroe and the Ouachita Parish Police Jury have agreed upon a purchase price of One Hundred Eighty-Five Thousand and No/100 Dollars ($185,000.00).

WHEREAS the 80% of the funds to purchase this property will come from a transit grant and the balance will come from Transit General Operating funds.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Monroe, Louisiana in legal session convened, that Mayor Friday Ellis be and he is hereby authorized and empowered for and on behalf of the City of Monroe to acquire the following described property for the sum of $185,000.00, to-wit:

Lot 1 of the Resubdivision of Lots 1, 2 & 7 of

 the Subdivision of Tract 3 of Conner Realty Corp. Property

IT IS FURTHER ORDAINED that this Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon passage.

This Ordinance was INTRODUCED on the  13th  day of June 2023.

NOTICE PUBLISHED on the  16th  day of  June 2023.

This Ordinance having been submitted in writing, introduced and published, was then submitted to a final vote as a whole and the vote thereon being as follows:

AYES: Harvey, Ezernack, Marshall & Dawson

NAYS: None.

ABSENT: Woods

And the Ordinance was declared ADOPTED on the  27th    day of  June 2023.
