The Planning and Urban Development Department is committed to enhancing the quality of life for all of the citizens of Monroe.

This objective is best achieved through the city’s policies, procedures, codes, programs, and activities of the following divisions: Code Enforcement, Community Development. The Planning and Urban Development Department provides a full range of planning, support services, community revitalization, and code enforcement. P.U.D. offers services to the general public, the Mayor, the City Council, and other departments, boards, and commissions of the City.

Building Codes: All construction projects must comply with the following codes;2009 International Building Code, 2009 International Residential Code, 2009 International Mechanical Code, 2008 National Electrical Code, 2000 Louisiana Plumbing Code, and all local ordinances and regulations.
